Connect an account

Authorize Gmail or Outlook so Bertram can read and send on your behalf.

Bertram works on top of your existing mailbox — it does not replace your email address or move your mail anywhere. You authorize access with OAuth, the same secure sign-in flow you have used to connect other apps to Google or Microsoft.

Connecting your mailbox

  1. Open Settings and find the Integrations section.
  2. On the Gmail or Outlook card, choose Connect. You are redirected to Google or Microsoft to sign in.
  3. Review the permissions and approve. You land back in Settings with a confirmation, and your inbox starts loading.

Each connection brings mail and calendar: Gmail covers Google Workspace and Gmail with Google Calendar; Outlook covers Microsoft 365, Outlook.com, and Hotmail with the Outlook calendar.

More than one account

You can connect Gmail and Outlook side by side. The account switcher at the top of the sidebar filters everything by account — or shows All accounts merged into one list. Threads, drafts, and labels never bleed between accounts.

Disconnecting

Every card in Settings → Integrations has a Disconnect button, and it takes effect immediately. You can also revoke Bertram's access directly from your Google or Microsoft account security page — either one works.

What the grant covers
The OAuth grant lets Bertram read your messages (to summarize and prioritize them), send the messages you approve, and read and write your calendar. Nothing more — and you can withdraw it at any time.
